It's been a while and I thought it was time to say hello!
Hello! I've been back in the US groove for about two months and a lot has happened since "re-entry." I had a great gig with Grant Langston and The Supermodels last week at Humphrey's... what a blast. They're such great guys and we had fun jamming together! Thanks again Grant! The Troubadour reviewed my CD Tunes and Craig Yerkes had a lot of nice things to say about the music. You can check it out at
www.sandiegotroubadour.com. AND, I have quit my job and am now pursuing another music tour here in the States. I have caught the travel bug and want to do it again! The summer seems to be flying past and I am hoping the fall brings health and happiness to all of you. It's been great seeing you at shows and I want you to know I appreciate your effort to make it time and time again. Stay tuned for more shows and some new venues, too! Hoping to hit The Belly Up and 4th and B before the end of the year! See you soon... keep on rocking!!

I had my farewell gig yesterday and it was a terrific way to wrap up the tour! We ended where we started, at The Pilot in Maidstone... a terrific pub with the greatest owners and the nicest crowd. Definitely a favorite from the tour! There were some returning folks who had seen me over a month ago- the day my keyboard blew, remember?? They came back again so I took that as a good sign!
It was awesome. They listened and smiled and yelled for more. These English audiences have spoiled me, I fear!
So, I feel a bit like Jerry Seinfeld, leaving on a good note, while all is well and the people are happy... including me!! This trip has been more than I could have ever imagined. Even with its challenges, the good has overwhelmingly outweighed any bumps along the way.
I am looking forward to getting back home and sharing my stories and pictures with you. Thanks for keeping in touch and for supporting me from afar. It has meant a LOT! I miss you all to bits!
Love and cheers!

Hey hi! (A common way to greet folks here)
I have been a theatre junkie this week and have seen another two shows since my last update. "Saturday Night Fever" was the matinee I was treated to today... absolutely terrific! I am forever a Bee Gees fan and when you build a show around their music you can't go wrong.
In my next life I will be a dancer, or at least have the body of one! What a great show.
The people here continue to amaze me with their kindness, interest and experience. I am heading back to Kent tomorrow for one more gig and will take with me all of the energy of this incredible city. I am already planning my return! I heard a quote recently: "If you don't love London, you don't love life." I completely agree! So I will end my tour singing to the masses... or at least a small, energetic crowd at The Pilot in Maidstone, which is where it all began! Thanks to Laurence, the owner, I was able to play a working keyboard until mine was up and running again. And, he and his lovely girlfrind Heather happened to be two of the kindest people I met on my journey. So it's fitting to end where I began, at their fine pub! Hope all of these entries haven't bored you... it's been great to share some of what's happened with you so thanks for tuning in! See you at a show very soon!
Cheers!

Another fabulous day in London. I have been immersing myself in theatre, museums and restaurants. It's all fabulous. I will miss the energy and electricity of this city. I love taking the tube everywhere! It's so easy!
My final gig is next week and then it's home sweet home... a little sooner than planned but it's all just as it should be! Thanks for the emails and all of your support. the tour wouldn't have been as much fun without you! One of the shows was recorded and if I can get some copies of it, I'll let you know on the website. It will be my "Live from England" CD. Yea!

Moment of the day: Walking into a bagpipe shop and seeing a t-shirt that said "Blow Me" on it... does it get better than that?
I am walked out today! Saw The Castle, did The Royal Mile, went into at least two dozen museums and shops, visited The National Gallery and now am going to reward myself with beer. Yes! The accents here are SO varied and fun. The Scottish folk sound like they are singing when they talk. The accent is quite melodic and rolling... I love it. Still not sure about those bus drivers... I think they hate me because I ask questions. But the locals are really friendly for the most part! I have decided that although I would love to NOT look like a tourist, it's kind of hard to avoid, especially once I start to speak. Plus, tourists tend to look UP in big cities like this, and that's where I've been looking! So hey, I AM a tourist, and I have come to accept that I look and sound like one, too!
Lots of people are fascinated with my accent and where I live... "Where are you from?? OH, California! Wow!"
"Yes indeed," I say. It is a fabuolus place to live. :-)

If you don't believe in God, you've never been to Scotland.
It is the most beautiful countryside I have ever seen... pure magic! The train rides are becoming my favorite thing to do, especially taking the new Virgin fast trains... such a fun, smooth ride! I love it! It is freezing cold here and I am actually starting to miss the San Diego sunshine, believe it or not! I am a rainaholic but I have had plenty so now I am ready for sun, sun, sun! Off to London next for another week of museums and pubs. Two more gigs are in the works so keep your fingers crossed! Would love to leave on a musical "note." Sorry, I couldn't resist!!
Cheers!

Hello again!
I just have a minute but am finally in front of a computer and wanted to give you the latest scoop.
After 9 gigs (whew!) I am in Stratford-Upon-Avon now and all is well... staying with two friends who have been delightful hosts. We're in "Shakespeare-ville" so of course we will be going to the theatre tonight!
I am off to Scotland Friday for the weekend and then back to London for another week to enjoy more of that great city. Then back to Kent for maybe one or two more gigs.
The shows have been so wonderful and the traveling (especially by train, which I love!) has been awesome. I am meeting new people everywhere and have had some great experiences. Taking lots of pictures, too!
Have been "minding the gap" but have hit my head on low ceilings more times than I can count. Damn!
Until Scotland...

London, London, I love you so!
After almost a week in London I am certain I could live there. It's electric and international... different accents and colors and sounds... fabulous!
Have been touring around with my parents (so cool that they came from AZ to see some shows and do London with me!) and we've had fun. LOTS of walking and looking up at all the sights.
They left today and I am back on my own. We saw some great Theatre and had some yummy food... drank some delish beer, as usual!
Back in Kent now for three more shows and then it's off to Stratford.
Here are a few notables from my London experience:
Going to Abbey Road where I was almost hit by a car in the famous crosswalk and where a snooty lady told me I couldn't go inside the studios. She obviously didn't know who I was. :-)
Getting into a cab and hearing "Philadelphia Freedom" on the radio... TONS of American music here.
Having a nice man on the train pronounce my publishing company as "Zed" Girl Music instead of Z Girl Music.
Stay tuned for more!!!
Cheers.

After a very full week I am ready to fill you in again!
We have been all over... from Maidstone to Hastings (great funky coastal community) to Broadstairs and Swindon. The pub venues are fun and fiesty, the theatre venues are intimate very quiet. My favorite! The people really want to listen and catch every word... they like to sing along and buy CDs, too. Can't complain!
My favorite show was two nights ago in Bury, near Manchester. The theatre is big and old and fabulous! We played in a small theatre donwstairs and it was perfect. About 50 or 60 people (which filled the room nicely) and they were delightful from the moment we started. David Blosse opened with a nice warm first set and then I played two more... they loved it all!
I enjoy talking with these people so much... they are friendly and interested. The owners are always happy to see you and one pub owner had little sandwiches prepared for us... very nice touch. Many of them are so worldy and well traveled and it makes me feel like a babe in the woods at times. It's been a great experience thus far! The world is BIG.
I am now in London and will hop about for a week here, then back to Kent for three more shows.
Not sure what's next at that point? Hey, I said I wanted an adventure so... careful what you wish for!!
The beer is so good I can't believe it... I find it hard to not order a Guiness at 10am. However, in some of these towns that would seem late in the day. It's been a wild ride and I am enjoying it all. Stay tuned for more...

Cheers!
I have made it and finally have a chance to give you an update! The flight was long and bumpy at times but I did survive and was happy to arrive safely in England Saturday morning. I had been told that the jetlag would be awful but didn't really know just HOW awful until that day... I felt completely wonky (great word!) and was not in my right head or body for most of the day. My host is a lovely man named David, who was patient and forgiving as I am sure I was looking baffled and dazed for most of those hours!
Gigs started up the next day and my initiation to the UK was blowing out two power adapters at the first pub venue! Well done! Fortunately the pub owner was kind enough to lend me his keyboard which I have been using... mine is on the mend, as they say!
The people have been wonderful... I have been well received so far. When they want an encore they yell "More!" and I have heard it often so I am taking that as a good sign! They are fascinated with my accent... MY accent?? And the music is going over well.
The beer is delicious and the countryside is beautiful... more shows for the next few days and then I'm off for a week or so. Will keep you all in the loop. Thanks for the emails!!
Love,
Patti (pronounced PaTTi... not PaDDi, like we say it in the States!)

Final countdown to the big departure... I leave next Friday! Nervous and excited but more excited!
Lots of gigs are planned for the first two weeks and hopefully they will go well so I can keep on rocking for two months! Look for dates very soon! Special thanks to Eve Selis for helping make this happen! Love you Eve!!
